sea change:

   1. a striking change, often for the better.

   2. a transformation brought about by the sea.

Sea Changes is a new program that offers free kayak trips and wilderness walks to women of all ages that face life-changing challenges. It is our belief that nature can be a powerful teacher and healer for all of us. When faced with challenges, spending time in nature can help to center and bring joy back into our lives.

These groups include:

  • Abused women
  • Homeless
  • Guardian ad Litem
  • Foster Children
  • Troubled youth

These and similar programs are encouraged to contact us.  All walks and kayak trips are operated by Find Yourself Outdoors, llc.

Kayak Trips

All trips include basic instruction, kayaks, safety gear and a one to two-hour guided trip. A maximum of six paddlers can be taken out at one time. Larger groups can run shifts of shorter times to allow everyone a chance to kayak. Sites listed have been chosen because of their calm waters and abundant wildlife.

Cooper's Bayou (Safety Harbor) This small bayou located off of Bayshore Blvd has many mangrove islands and a short water trail to explore.

Grandview Park (St. Pete) This park located near downtown has seagrass beds that is a favorite for many seabirds, manatees and dolphins.

Mobbly Bayou (Oldsmar) Located in north Pinellas County, this new preserve has a wide mangrove trail out to Tampa Bay.

Walks

Guided walks are about one mile in length and include stretching, a nature reading and time for a short silent walk. Groups are limited to 20 for walks.

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve (St. Pete) is located along the shores of Lake Maggiore and includes a wildlife exhibit and shaded trails.

John Chesnut Park (Tarpon Springs) off of East Lake Road has boardwalk trails and a tower with views over Lake Tarpon.

Moccasin Lake Park (Clearwater) has live wildlife exhibits and boardwalk trails.

There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough, to pay attention to the story.
